About Doctor
Dr. Pankaj Patel trained in peripheral vascular surgery in yorkshire region UK. Also has special expertise in varicose veins surgery.

PVD
PVD is a disease of the blood vessels. Ignoring the symptoms leads to gangrene of the limbs and eventually loss of limb.

Peripheral Arterial Disease

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) usually caused by atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries.
Acute Limb Ischaemia

Acute Limb Ischaemia occurs due to collateral supply in leg usually inadequate unless pre-existing occlusive disease.
Buerger's Disease

Buerger's Disease involves the small and medium-sized arteries. Frequently, it involves superficial veins of the extremities. Rarely, and in well advanced disease, it may involve vessels in other parts of the body. It is also known as Thromboangitis Obliterans
Raynaud's Disease

Raynaud's disease is a condition that affects the blood supply to the fingers, toes and occasionally the ears and nose. Other underlying diseases associated with Raynaud's are: connective tissue diseases, scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis lupus, vibration white finger, occlusive arterial disease, thoracic outlet syndrome, carpel tunnel syndrome.

Venous Disease

Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are long tortous, elongated veins. They cause pooling of blood in the legs. This leads to skin discolouration & itching. Eventually causing ulcer or bleeding.
Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is suitable for below knee varicose veins. Mainly for persistent or recurrent varicose veins.
Endovenous Laser
Ambulatory Phlebectomy

LSV Surgery, SSV Surgery, perforator surgery is performed during Ambulatory Phlebectomy. This surgery is performed as a day care operation where the patient can go home the same evening and has no stitches in his legs.
Deep Vein Thrombosis

DVT usually involves the formation of a large clot in the deep veins in the lower legs and thighs. It can also occur in the area around the armpit and collar bone (axillary-subclavian vein thrombosis), in the upper arm, abdomen, or pelvic region.
Leg Ulcer

Leg ulcers are due to vascular insufficiency. It is important to find the cause of ulcer. If arterial insufficiency, then improve blood flow in the artery. If the cause is venous do corrective venous surgery. Different forms of dressings do play an important role in aiding ulcer healing.

Carotid Artery Disease
During Carotid Artery Disease, Atherosclerosis is common at the bifurcation of the artery. Stenosis of the internal carotid artery is a treatable cause of Ischaemic stroke, Transient ischaemic attack & Retinal infarction.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms is an increase in aortic diameter by greater than 50% of normal. Normally patients require surgery for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms if the diameter exceeds 5 cms.

Lymphoedema
Lymphoedema presents gradual limb swelling. It is due to progressive failure of lymphatic system.
